How it all started
Blue Phoenix Events got its start as a casual (and most likely very tipsy) conversation at a wedding, quickly forming into a partnership between friends.
Becoming an event planner was a dream that Bert didn’t know he had. After planning a large-budget Broadway/Central Park-themed reception at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis, (and many other events over the years), he realized he was born for this. Being a Virgo means he loves to color code aND make checklists–and don’t even get him started on Gantt charts!
Working in the service industry, and making delectable treats over the years, Kat has wanted to open a catering business. Her knowledge of food prep, timing, quantities, rates, and her creative mind, was a great compliment to Bert’s creative and logistical nature.
With Bert’s planning expertise and Kat’s experience in the food & beverage/service industry, it was a match made in heaven.
For both of them, planning celebrations are so much more than just putting on an event–it’s about making dreams come true. Whether they are creating immersive landscapes with artisanal flair, ensuring everything runs smoothly behind the scenes, or just imagining how downright fabulous you’ll look on your special day; their passion for excellence is all-encompassing. They treat every client like family because frankly there’s nothing better than seeing someone happy!
